The Museum of Ancient Glass in Zadar invites you to the exhibition “IN VITRO – Stories about Glass in Pharmacy and Medicine of the Ancient and Modern Ages”, authored by Anamarija Eterović Borzić and Vedrana Jović Gazić, PhD.
The main role in this story is played by individual, seemingly simple objects that introduce us to the historical and archaeological interpretation of the human urge to investigate the origins of diseases and physical ailments.
In ancient times and all subsequent historical periods, glass held an important place in medicine, pharmacy, and related fields. Its use was based on the unique properties of the material: solid, transparent, colorless or slightly tinted, non-reactive, and perfect for the long-term preservation of substances.
