Jerko Jurin Quartet is a contemporary jazz ensemble performing original music inspired by various eras and styles of jazz, drawing influence from artists such as Kneebody, Kendrick Scott, Dave Holland, Jaga Jazzist, Ambrose Akinmusire, Flying Lotus, Radiohead, Boards of Canada, Madlib, Daedelus, and Alessandro Cortini.
The quartet’s compositions blend elements of contemporary jazz, including improvisation through complex forms and harmonic progressions, with the textures of modern electronic music, the sonic landscapes of ambient music, and the energy of rock.
In 2024, the quartet released the critically acclaimed album Deceptive Simplicity on the Cantus label, which was also presented at the JazzHR festival.
The quartet features outstanding young jazz musicians: Pavle Jovanović on electric guitar, Luka Čapeta on electric guitar, Hrvoje Kralj on double bass and electric bass guitar (recipient of the Status Award for Best Jazz Double Bassist in 2020), and Jerko Jurin on drums.
To date, the quartet has performed at numerous concerts and festivals across Croatia, including the Jazz from the Woods series in Koprivnica, Jazz Point at CZKNZ in Zagreb, Barone Jazz Festival in Šibenik, Osijek Cultural Summer in Osijek, Jazz in the Lapidarium in Poreč, and the AJMO! project organized by the WeMoveMusic office in Dubrovnik.
