This year’s Advent in Zadar brings a series of new programmes throughout the historic city centre, including a special musical event that will take place on Thursday, 13 December, at 12 PM in front of the Church of St. Chrysogonus. The Zadar Strings Quartet, an exceptional ensemble of musicians connected by long-standing friendship and shared artistic growth, will offer the audience an elegant open-air concert in the heart of the city.
The quartet members grew up together and began their musical education at the Blagoje Bersa Music School in Zadar, later continuing their studies at the music academies in Zagreb and Sarajevo. Alongside their chamber music work, all four musicians are active members of the Zadar Chamber Orchestra, shaping the quartet’s distinctive musical identity.
Zadar Strings blends classical repertoire with its own arrangements of jazz, pop and rock pieces, creating a contemporary and recognisable sound. The concert programme includes selected classical works with a festive character – Vivaldi, Bach and Mozart – as well as special arrangements of Croatian composers, including the unforgettable songs of Oliver Dragojević, along with music by Astor Piazzolla, famous film themes and beloved Advent melodies.
