Duo Eolian

The Duo Eolian, consisting of flutist Lucija Stilinović and harpist Veronika Ćiković, was founded in 2018 when both musicians were students at the Academy of Music in Zagreb. Since then, Duo Eolian has frequently performed at well-known classical music festivals in Croatia, such as: the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, Svibanjske glazbene večeri (May Musical Evenings) in Šibenik, Rapske glazbene večeri (Rab Musical Evenings), the St. Mark’s Festival, the Chamber Music Festival in Čakovec, and others. The duo has also performed in the Mijo Kovačić Gallery in Koprivnica, the Circolo Italian Community Hall in Rijeka, and the Grand Concert Hall of the Croatian National Theatre in Varaždin. It is important to note that the members of Duo Eolian jointly performed Mozart’s Concerto for Flute, Harp, and Orchestra in C major at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival (August 2022), accompanied by the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra and Maestro Dawid Runtz. The concert was met with a standing ovation from the audience and recognized by critics:
“It was particularly interesting to observe the synergy of both soloists: it was obvious that they invested a lot of time and effort into developing their interpretative ideas, which, of course, was most evident in their thoughtful cadenzas. By choosing their tone color, they managed to bring the timbres of two such different instruments closer to one another: the harp had a perfect legato when needed, simultaneously executed by the flute, or the flute would perform a fluid and ‘plucky’ melodic line, imitating the harp. Furthermore, with perfect shared precision, without the slightest discrepancy, they always ‘breathed’ together in numerous musical phrasings.” – Helena Skljarov, Glazba.hr
In September 2022, Duo Eolian won first place and the first prize at the 11th International Competition “Suoni d’Arpa” in Saluzzo, Italy. In addition to this award, the duo was also honored with the City of Saluzzo Award and was invited to hold several concerts in Saluzzo and Bologna. In October 2023, the duo performed in Trieste, at the Revoltella Museum, at the invitation of the Croatian Community of Trieste (Comunità Croata di Trieste).
